The Active Denial System (ADS) fires a 95-gigahertz microwave beam, which heats skin and causes pain, provoking the rioter or protester to run. The U.S. Pentagon will be using this microwave beam in Iraq for,"crowd control". They claimed in 2001 there were no long term effects caused by this weapon. Yet, test results are being released from 2003-2004 that differ. Testing scientists were banned from wearing glasses and contact lenses, not knowing, how this beam could effect the eyes. In later tests, they learned to remove metallic objects from subjects, as small as coins or keys because they were causing burns.
